From the embarkation through the debarkation everything was mediocre. We were a party of two, my husband and I, and we decided not to let anything ruin our vacation. We were not impressed with anything, and there is a long list of mediocre items. With an exception: the food was a little less than mediocre.

The quality of the staff was a bit less than average also, the two problems were lack of customer service instincts (congeniality) and some degree of difficulty with the English language.

Food and Dining

I heard a while ago a comment: NCL is freestyle cruising, which means you are free to buy your own food. I found a lot of substance to that comment since the food on our last cruise was of poor quality.

Entertainment

The lest entertaining shows we have seen on all cruises (almost 30 in all.)

Service and Staff

No "going above and beyond at all." The staff seemed like they were trained in hospitality, but they did not have it within them. They were the wrong people in the wrong place. A cubicle in an accounting office would have suited them better than exposure to a variety of guests.

Cabin / Stateroom

We upgraded to a balcony on the 11th floor: big mistake. At 4 o'clock in the morning staff started their activity upstairs.

Pros: Can't think of anything great. We appreciate the captain's announcements which were daily.

Cons: Nothing was really horrible either.

Recommends Norwegian Star? No.
