Great service from some, bad from others

Room Type: Inside

This was our first cruise so we weren't exactly sure what to expect. For the most part, the service staff was excellent. The food at the buffet was edible. We ate a few of the upcharge restaurants and it was definitely worth it. The food was a very good quality. We were disappointed to see the construction occuring in the rooms around us. We had to deal with walking through puddles and a leaky pipe in the hallway on one day. We only hope it was clean water that landed on our heads. The construction workers usually were blocking the way to the elevators with their various equipment. When we finally complained about the construction and dripping pipes, we were moved to a cheaper room and not given compensation for taking the cheaper room. They didn't even apologize for the experience.

Pros: Mostly great service

Cons: Construction occuring on rooms around us and had to dodge water dropping on our heads from leaky pipes in the hallway ceiling.

Recommends Norwegian Star? No.

Ship Quality
Outside of the construction experience on our floor, the ship was in good shape.
Food and Dining
Try to avoid the buffet. The upcharge restaurants are worth it. Service is great in all the restuarants.
Cabin / Stateroom
Service and Staff
The stewards and wait staff were great. The guest services attendents seemed less interested in helping the passengers.
Ketchikan, Alaska
Nice town. Not a lot to do there. We did the zip line excursion and had a blast.
Prince Rupert, British Columbia
There isn't anything to do here.
Juneau, Alaska
We did a nature hike to see the glacier. The rain forest is amazing and the glacier is a must see.
Don't Miss: Mendenhall Glacier
Skagway, Alaska
We were at this port for almost a full day but not a lot here.
