this is our second cruise on the star and the first one was two years ago. at that time the spa was included in the price so you could use the jacuzzi and chairs in the indoor pool area and get a great view out of the big picture windows in the back and relax and avoid all the kids. now it will cost you fifteen dollars also the tipping is not tipping but a service charge and any person who gives you more then excellent service you need to tip again. this is also a change from two years ago and i feel you should tip the people who were so good to us during the cruise not the company on an added service charge. We feel the service was much better two years ago under the old system. The food in the versailles and aqua resteraunts was fine but both had the same menu's and i think two years ago you had a different choice in each. We chose the steak resteraunt one night at 20 dollars a person and found the service about the same but the food much better. We would have ate at the japanese resteraunt on the grill but they have raised the price to 20 dollars last time we were on the star in was $12.50 a person and we thought it was to much of a price hike and you can eat a great japanese hibachi meal at the best resteraunts for 20 dollars. embarkation was easy as was arrival at san pedro overall it was a fun cruise but feel norwegian is not adding anything but taking things away.

Pros: the ship is one of the finest we have cruised with

Cons: they have taken away the jacuzzi and whirlpool and indoor pool in the spa and made it a fifteen dollar charge for the hour you would use it

Recommends Norwegian Star? No.
