Review SummaryThe ship was large and very nice. It had very good restaraunts, the Versillas and the Agua were very good. The evening meals in both were very good. We ate at Cagney's one evening. It was good, but I don't think it was as good as the East Meets West steakhouse on the Sun. Just not as elegant. The ports were very good. We did the mini-sub in Cobo San Lucas. It was a very good excursion. I got some excellent pictures of the colorful fish and the beautiful area. At Mazatlan, we took the excursion to the Shrimp Fest. We were not impressed with that one. In fact we were disappointed because it was too expensive for what we got. I do not recommend that one, although, some on the tour thought it was good. Our last stop was in Puerto Vallarta. We got a city tour from an operator just outside where we got off the ship. It was the highlight of our trip. Our tour guide, Hector Almeida, was so knowledgeable and his love of the city was so evident. It made it very personal. We learned a lot that day about mexico and the city from him. Debarkation was not a good experience, but the ship had arrived a little late into LA port, so everyone was trying to get off at the same time, which was a nightmare.
This was overall a wonderful trip on the NCL Star. The crew was exceptional and so friendly.

Pros: NCL's freestyle cruising
Cons: Cigarette smoke on a lot of the ship. It seemed to filter everywhere.
