Could be better!

We flew to LA a day early and stayed at an airport area hotel. We used the NCL transfers on cruise day returning on the airport shuttle and going down one flight to arruval area where we were picked up and bussed to the ship. It was a smoothe transition. This was our 25Th. cruise and Eighth on NCL.

Pros: Most ports of call!

Cons: Hidden ship costs.

Recommends Norwegian Star? No.

Service and Staff
The officer staff was normal but the service crew seemed to be going through the motions. There was a gathering scheduled for NCL cruisers of 5 or more but no uniformed officers showed up to talk to us about future plans except the asst. cruise director who halked a special discount on future cruises. A picture with the Captian was $25. IT's ALL ABOUT MONEY NOT YOUR COMFORT!
Food and Dining
We found the FREES STYLE CRUISING impersonal. Causing server apathy. We spoke to old time servers who said they disliked the process.Food in the main dining rooms was average at best causing people to look at the specialty rooms. The added cost of specialty dining added at least $70.00 per passenger.Liquor was outrageous with coctails at $8 to $11. Bottles of domestic California wine started at $32. A soda card for the 8 days was around $75.Beer $3.50 to $5.00. Daily specials were $5.
Ship Quality
The ship was clean. Exterior areas painted with tropical murals made the exterior walking areas pleasing.
Cabin / Stateroom
The mini-suite area was roomy with the extended balconies on deck Eleven.Deck Eleven is noisy as rooms are directly below the pool and eating area with chairs being pulled around at 0500.
The shows were stock cruise presentations except for the magician who was excellent.
