We thought the Star was very clean and well-maintained. The layout was easy to navigate. The staff was terrific - very friendly. Booking excursions was easy and convenient; however, NCL's marked-up prices were a little much. Local tours were much less expensive and easy to book in port. Time in ports was short, but we managed to pack in lots of sight-seeing despite that. Overall, we had a truly great time and unforgettable honeymoon.

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Great for mass-production food; consistently good considering that they fed over 2000 people a day. Service was always quick. Didn't like the change in waitstaff attitude when not ordering wine or alcohol w/ dinner, but understandable given that it results in bigger tips for them. We certainly didn't starve!!

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Typical onboard entertainment isn't really our thing, but I think they offered a good variety for guests. People seemed to flock to BINGO everyday. Lectures on ports prior to arrival were very interesting and worth the time. There was, however, way too much emphasis on duty-free jewelry shopping (but makes sense given that the cruise lines own the shops).

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was cheerful and helpful. Staff seemed sincerely nice.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean and maintained. We loved the fitness facility and spending afternoons at the Spinnaker Lounge (great views and cozy chairs for reading).

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Room was clean, had plenty of storage for two people, cabin steward was great, and bed was REALLY comfortable. We loved our balcony and will forever request one in the future. Worth the money because of the exceptional Alaskan scenery the entire week.

Pros: Our cabin steward was fabulous - and the balcony was definitely worth the money

Cons: Shipboard entertainment was bland, but it's not really our style anyway

Recommends Norwegian Star? Yes!
