First time on NCL, Not the Last

Sail Date: March 01, 2007

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

This was my first time on NCL. The Star is a great liner with many activities from which to choose. We had a balcony cabin on Deck 10. Very nice.

However, we don't have kids and felt, at times, that the cruise was oriented only to families. This was most evident at the pool. We could not use it at all while it was opened. There was a children's pool, but the kids were in both pools. We ended up having to pay to use the spa pool. Also, why were people bringing kids to the lounges at night? You can't do that on the mainland.

I liked that they had ESPN on the ship as it was March Madness.

Pros: The Service

Cons: Families were overly emphasized

Recommends Norwegian Star? Yes!

Food and Dining
Aqua and Verseilles were great. The portions not huge. Market Cafe was like a high school cafeteria with the same food every morning. Boring!!

Le Bistro was an excellent dining experience, but was ruined by a family trying to teach their tottlers how to eat. If I am going to pay $20 extra, I don't need to have the atmosphere of Chucky Cheese! Adults only in the specialty restaurants please
Their improv group left a lot to be desired. The comedian was very good. Good activites to keep you busy regardless if you want Sudoku or a Hairy Legs Contest. Poolside band had a few quips that seemed very riske for the families at the pool.
Ship Quality
I liked the idea of the hand sanitizers. Never a wait for an elevator. Very smooth ride, even in rough seas.
Cabin / Stateroom
Very good use of space. Closets were just large enough. The toilet area was just large enough. The balcony was larger than expected.
Service and Staff
Very friendly and non-native speakers had an excellent command of English (except for the young lady doing the Triva contest in the Red Lion Pub)
