A great vacation !

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Oceanview

The " Star " was absolutely beautiful and clean. It was very elegant but not gaudy.

Pros: This was our 9th cruise but our first "freestyle" cruise. We enjoyed the optional dining arraingements. The "Star" was beautiful and very clean and well kept. The majority of the crew was very attentive and pleasant, even though their tip was added to the bill instead of earned.

Cons: Just about everywhere we ate the servers were rushed, almost running to keep up. They seemed to have 2 prices in Mexico, one for the locals and one for the tourist. You really have to watch what you buy. The ship usually had better deals.

Recommends Norwegian Star? Yes!

Food and Dining
The buffets were probably the best we have had on all the cruises. Great selection and well prepared and presented. You could do all your dining there but it wouldn't be as much fun as the other dining choices.
Cabin / Stateroom
The stateroom we had was comfortable, although we would probably choose a room with a balcony next time.
Service and Staff
We had absolutely no complaints with the staff. We have had bad experiences before when the tip was automatic like this, but not with NCL.
Entertainment
Some of the shows were great, some were just ok. They were all entertaining and not at all crowded.
Ship Quality
The ship was easy to get around in. By the third day we learned to use the plackards by the elevators to find our location and direction. They keep you aware of which side you are on and which way is forward better than the paper handouts.
