Our 16 cruise and the worst. Automatically charged $10 per day for tipping so the staff dosen't have to earn their tip. No service at all. 10 restrauants but you have to pay a cover charge to get in about 4 of them. Almost always had a wait at the main restrauants. So much for free style cruising, never again. The food was only so-so. Tasted good but no originality. Never got a vegetable with dinner. Had to continually ask for water or beverage, including coffee. They do a good job of disembarking on final day.Well organized. The shore excursions were very expensive and therefore we always got a cab driver to do the excursions for about 1/2 the price ! This was our 3rd or 4th NCL trip, never again-unless they do away with free style. They should be able to do both, just disignate some restrauants free syle and some assigned seating The was NCL handles tipping is a big rip off. We had no one who really deserved a tip. We have always in the past tipped the maximun or more because they earned it, not this time. The spa was a great experience. $8 per drink for the drink of the day is outrageous !!!Most other lines charge $4.50. NCL must think their customers are stupid and they can charge whatever they want for everything. Going on another trip in April but it won't be NCL ! The ship was kept very cold, always had to wear a jacket or sweater !

Food and Dining

Very disappointing menus. Boring. No vegetables. Desserts lacked orginality. Buffets were the same day in day out. Never changed anything. By the time you found a table the food was cold. Had to wait to get into main dining rooms.

There were only 2 show that were anygood. 1 was an illusionist who was fantastic, the other a hypnotist who was also fantastic. The other shows were mostly dancing, ballet, and chinese acrobats. Not the standards of shows on other lines.

Service and Staff

In comparsion to other ships we have sailed on the staff was inattentive. They did their jobs, but not because they wanted too. They didn't have to because they knew they would get paid even if they did nothing, which is what most of them did.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship was beautiful, cleanand very accessible. Rarely had to wait for an elevator. Never seemed crowded except in dining rooms where it was jambed.

Cabin / Stateroom

Our statement was a balcony and was very small. Much smaller than on other ships. Only 1 person at a time could walk at the end of the bed. Steward was only so-so. Wasn't very interested in doing their jobs.

Pros: The ship it's self was beautiful and very clean

Cons: This was our 16th cruise and the worst ever. You are automatically charged $10 per day, which means the staff dosen't have to give good service because their going to get paid anyway.Service was terrible. There were 10 restrauants but you had to pay for about 5 of them.

Recommends Norwegian Star? No.
