Sail Date: September 01, 2013 Ship: Norwegian Spirit Cabin Type: Balcony Traveled As: Singles/Friends Reviewed: 3 years ago
I hated this old ship. It was built in 1998 and falling apart. The food was disgusting and entertainment lacked. I slept on a very uncomfortable pull-out bed. The people working on the ship, both restaurants and guest services, had no clue what they were doing. I was at Guest Services 8 out of 12 days because of mistakes and horrible service.
Food and Dining

Food was disgusting. We had to believe they did this on purpose to force people to pay extra at the specialty restaurants. We heard numerous couples complain about the food at the specialty restaurants as well. Room service took over an hour for cold sandwiches. Everywhere we went, except the buffet, they got our orders wrong. How hard is it to make a cheeseburger? The places looked nice and we never had to wait for a seat

Very disappointed in the entertainment. Only one show a night and bingo was only played 3 times on a 12 day cruise. I didn't bother. There were only 4 channels on the television that were in English and the was no option to purchase movies. 10 movies just played over and over and over. I believe we saw The Fugitive 9 times
Service and Staff

Guest services listened to our complaints but things just got worse as the vacation continued. Everyone was willing to listen but not always help. We enjoyed our cabin steward and gave him high marks

Size of ship was okay but way outdated. Upon entering our cabin, there toenails on the balcony, hair and feces all over the bathroom, 1 robe for 3 people, 2 glasses for 3 people, desk was filthy and we had to clean it before setting anything down, there was garbage left in the room, the desk was broken as well as the desk chair and there was no ice in our ice bucket and it was covered with some sort of sticky substance. We couldn't get over the filth and was refused a different room. We did receive a new desk chair.
Cabin / Stateroom

Again, filthy stateroom. Did I mention the dead bugs smeared on the walls? My friend is currently going through chemotherapy and she needs to be in a healthy, clean environment. Our steward did the best he could to rectify the situation but stated they were short-staffed and didn't have the time to properly clean. Our toilet was broken for 2 days and we had to use the public bathrooms during the day and at night. Our air-conditioning also broke for 2 days. It wasn't fixed the first day because they "forgot.' The location was fine, as I picked the room myself.
Pros: getting off the ship
Cons: the food, service, entertainment, lack of variety at the shops
