Norwegian Spirit Cruise Review to Caribbean - Western
Review SummaryAs a returning NCL customer, I was very excited to be sailing with them again to the Western Caribbean out of New Orleans...after previously sailing with them to the Bahamas and having a fantastic time, we wanted to experience a longer voyage. First impressions were pretty good, bathroom a little outdated but nothing to fret over. Beautiful ship overall, easy to get to places, and the freestyle options are always a plus. The one thing that made this trip an inconvenience was the attentiveness and courtesy of the front desk when a problem arose. We had a problem with our door, the entire lock's battery died. The first time this happened wasn't a big deal, we figured quick fix. The first person at guest relations was wonderful, quick and came up with us to the room after resetting our keys to double check, they said it needed battery replacement and they would take care of it right away; however, a couple days later, the same exact problem occurred. This time it was kind of a bother because we had to get somewhere and we needed to quickly grab something we forgot in our room. Had to go back to the front desk, new person, total 180 in attitude. They didn't believe us when we told them it was the second time it happened. They also didn't believe us when we said it couldn't be our keys because they were reset and also not near anything that could deactivate them. Printed out new keys, came with to see if it worked, of course didn't, this time we had to wait with him until security came to reset the door. We told them the batteries should've been replaced, they weren't. Finally after 20-25 min were able to get our stuff and leave. That's not all, the last day the EXACT same situation occurred and I couldn't help but get angry. This time I called the front desk and asked that something be done about this because I shouldn't have to deal with having someone constantly come to our room to let us in. Again, all they could say was "Sorry about this" and told us we had to go to the front desk again so they could check our cards...etc etc...completely not believing that this has happened for the third time.
Towards the end of our cruise we also had ghost ants around our t.v. and desk area, and as a heads up, if you are taking minors between 18-20 and have the SIGNED consent form...don't think you can sign for them to consume alcohol on the ship even if NCL told you that would be okay (which they said it was), has to be parent or legal guardian present).
If it wasn't for the entertainment and dining experiences, this would've been a bummer of a trip (recommend Cagney's!!). Just remember it's an older ship, you get what you paid for, and we ended up with a headache in the end and a hiatus from NCL for awhile.
