Aug cruise to Florida and Bahamas had Ernesto hanging over it from start to marvelous finish. The staff was great and always helpful. They really went out of their way to take good care of my young son and made him feel special. Big plus for that. The ship is definitely in need of some room upgrading but overall I found it to be beautiful and luxurious looking. 7th floor area was nice. The restaurants on board were just great and much needed ,to get away from the DMV feel in Raffles! Re-design that place! 5 days would have been enough and we sure wish it was. The 6th day we headed back from an overnight stay in NAssau because of Ernesto storm. Well. that storm got us real good heading into NY. for 10 hours we tossed around by 30 foot seas and gale force winds. People were sleeping in common areas of the ship and getting sick all over. It was quite terrifying ordeal to be humbled by mother nature. However, the Captain should have made some sort of calming announcement at 2am or so when it seemd its worst. While he did speak earlier in the day of its possibility, words cannot express what it felt like nor what fear was in some people's eyes as we all wondered if this was "just another day" for this crew or was this a surprise to the captain and no matter what the boat had to get back to NYC at 11am for the next crew to toss around that night. Bad job by the high ranking staff by not making themselves visible or heard at a time when a few words to explain the "turbulence" was probably all that was needed.
Sail Date: August 01, 2006
Traveled As: Family (young children)
Pros: Staff was helpful and always courteous.
Cons: The Raffles "cafeteria" was just that! Poor selection of food. Lines of people everywhere.
