On May 28 my family and I sailed out of New York on the Norwegian Spirit. It was a very disappointing cruise! We have traveled on other cruise lines before and they were excellent. The Spirit is supposed to be freestyle dining, but we found that to be false. We had a very difficult time getting reservations to the restaurants. The speciality restaurants had a cover charge and never had availability. As a result, we were stuck eating bland food from the buffet area everyday. They did not have a midnight buffet. There was only 1 restaurant open 24 hours. It was small and the service was horrible and very disorganized. The crew members were very disorganized and not friendly at all. My granddaughter never received a child size life jacket. When annoucements were made on the loud speaker, you could barely hear or understand them, especially when you were in your cabin. Going on and leaving the ship at the ports was very disorganized and chaotic. The itnerary was very bad. We were only in the Bahamas for a very short time and we should have stayed there longer. There was a lot to see there but so little time. On the other hand, we stayed on their private island overnight, which was a total waste of time, since we could not get on the island because one of the tenders broke. We attemped to go the folowing morning, but it was complete madness. We were a family of 6 adults and one child that traveled this time. NCL should be ashamed at the prices they charge and that we had to pay for the 2 year old who barely ate . We would never recommend this cruise to anyone. NCL should go back to traditional set times dining. Forget about freestyle dining because it really doesn't exist. We feel that we were robbed out of a vacation. It's too bad we can not get a refund.
VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!
Pros: Cabin Steward
Cons: Freestyle dining, food quality, size of cabins
