Sail Date: January 01, 2008 Ship: Norwegian Spirit Cabin Type: Inside Traveled As: Singles/Friends Reviewed: 9 years ago
The ship itself was stunning, this was my first cruise and I was amazed with everything on this ship. That, however, was the only thing i was amazed with was the condition and looks of the ship. Everything else was not what i expected from a cruise. There were several instances where things were not handled well, and it left me not interested in a cruise with this company again, let alone recommend the company to anyone else.
Food and Dining

The convience of free style cruising was wonderful. It was nice to come and go as we pleased, but the quality of the food in the included free dining rooms was not anything like what i had expected. The speciality restaurants were good, but they charged extra for the quality of food that i believe should have been in every dining room. I would not recommend this cruise to anyone based on the food.

There were alot of activities planned, but there were also alot of activities that were cancelled. For example, the signature chocoholic buffet was cancelled on our cruise. That was a big disappointment to our group. Also we had seen on the itinerary that there was going to be a mystery dinner and directed to the library to sign up at a specific time. We went to sign up at the library, and there was no one there to accept our names, in fact no one knew anything about this mystery dinner. Never again was it mentioned. This was also very disappointing to our group. Another situation that arouse was with a shore excursion. I had signed up for Areal Trek and Cave Tubing in Belize. On the papers it said no one exceeding 300 lbs. I am overweight, but i dont weigh 300 lbs, so i signed up with 2 friends of mine. when we arrived in Belize we drove an hour to the Areal Trek course, and upon arrival, the staff said they didnt have equipment that would fit - waste of time - unacceptable
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
The majority of the staff on the ship were very impersonable and seemed uninformed. The majority of the wait staff in the dining rooms were not very accomidating. Our drinks were empty through most of our meals, rarely were we asked "how is everything, or can i get you anything else" It often felt like we were being rushed to get in and get out. I cant say all the staff were impersonable, however, because our room staff was always wonderful - they did go above and beyond and asked if we needed anything and were always available if we did. They asked how our days went, and if they saw us on the way out for the day they'd always wish us a "good day".

The ship was very clean, and in very good condition. Staff was continually cleaning and kept it looking very nice.
Cabin / Stateroom

Our stateroom, was an inside stateroom which was what we wanted, but there was a pole in the center of our room. This left the already small room feeling much smaller. Also, with the location of our room, it was always noisy. We were right beside a utility room, and there was always doors closing and rummaging coming from 2 walls of our room. We did complain to the main desk, and they offered us another room, while we were looking at the room, a baby began to cry in a nearby stateroom, that would have made it no easier to sleep at night.
Pros: Some of the Ports were experiences i will never forget
Cons: the service on the ship was nothing like what i expected
