Love Freestyle Cruising!!!!!!!!!!

Sail Date: June 18, 2006

Reviewed: 10 years ago

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Balcony

This was our second time in Great Stirrup Cay, the word paradise just does not express how truly beautiful the island is. I just love the aspect of Freestyle Crusing, this was my third cruise on Norwegian and I love the variety of a different restaurant each night as well as having meals on our schedule, not the ship's.

Pros: Flexibility of Dining Whenever and Wherever You Want

Cons: Far Too Short a Time in Great Stirrup Cay

Cabin / Stateroom
The staterooms are a bit small but hey, it is a cruise ship!!! Decor is simple but our stateroom was very comfortable and very clean.
Service and Staff
A flat surcharge of $10 per person. per day is added to your bill to cover all tips with the exception of bar tabs, which add an additional 15% to each bill. Therefore, bartenders seem to go out of their way to be the friendliest!!!!! Ship's staff was all very nice though and very accomodating.
Ship Quality
The Spirit is a bit smaller than many other cruise ships but it was exceedingly comfortable. Overall decor is Asian, which made for some truly lovely ambiance.
Food and Dining
Loved the specialty restaurants, the variety was amazing. A cover charge of $15-$20 per person is applied but they are truly worth the additional cost. The buffet is exactly what you should expect, adequate food and total chaos.
Entertainment
Shows each night were very entertaining and Ricky, the cruise director was an absolute blast!!!!! The Fitness Center was very well equipped and accessible. The Chocaholic Buffet on the last day of our cruise was truly exceptional.
Nassau, Bahamas
Paradise Island is truly worth seeing but be sure not to miss the unbelievable shopping in Nassau.
Don't Miss: The Straw Market is a must!!!!!!
Port Canaveral, Florida
There is such a variety of attractions at this port that I don't think anyone remains on the ship!!!!!!! I would suggest however, to avoid beaches in Florida on this particular itinerary, Florida beaches cannot hold a candle to the beaches in the Bahamas!!!!!
Great Stirrup Cay (Cruiseline Private Island), Bahamas
This island is utter paradise, make sure you bring lots of film and extra batteries for your camera!!!!!! This is a private island owned and operated by Norwegian, and as such the cruiseline runs a beach party the night that you arrive and a barbecue on the beach the following day.
