Norwegian Spirit

Sail Date: April 01, 2006

Ship: Norwegian Spirit

Cabin Type: Inside

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Reviewed: 12 years ago

Review Summary

Not as large nor as new as the Dawn, the Spirit is still large enough to boast 7 specialty restaurants, plus a good sized casino, arcade, fitness center, spa, theater and nightclub among many other amenities. Like the Dawn, the Spirit is clean and well maintained with a "Roman" decor which is picture worthy. This was our second family cruise with NCL, and like our first 2 years ago, it exceeded our expectations. We are already planning our next cruise with NCL, hopefully for more than 7 days.

Ship Experiences

Food and Dining

The food in "Raffles" ,which is a buffet style dining area, was very good, with a good variety and an ethnic theme every night of the week. It allowed our 2 boys to eat what they wanted at whatever time they were hungry. The specialtiy restaurants that my wife and I went to were clean, the staff friendly and courteous and the menu selection very nice.

Broadway quality shows and Las Vegas quality entertainment. Again, Julie and John did an awesome job of planning a variety of activities and shows and the rest of their staff helped make the entertainment the best on the open seas !

Children's Programs

The kids crew staff was great! Our boys had a great time and the activities were age appropriate and fun for them, plus it gave my wife and I some time to be alone.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The ship's staff couldn't have been friendlier or more accomodating, from the housekeeping staff to the chefs to the people at the reception and excursion desks to the kid's crew counselors. The service was terrific, Julie and John did an excellent job of making sure we all had plenty of fun things to do and shows to see. Everyone was great!

Ship Quality

The ship was very roomy and very clean and well maintained. The decor was "Roman" themed and very picture worthy.

Cabin / Stateroom

My only complaint in this category was the room was a little cramped for 2 adults and 2 kids (8 and 12), but we didn't spend all that much time in there anyway. The room was cleaned and the beds made up twice a day.

Ports Of Call

Miami, Florida

In my opinion this was the highlight of our excursions. We were treated to a day of sun, swimming and relaxation at the Palm Beach Resort Hotel. The weather was perfect, the scenery was unbelieveable and it was overall just a perfect day. We didn't want to leave !
Don't Miss: South Beach !

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruiseline Private Island), Bahamas

Although we didn't stop at GSC this time around (the water was too rough for the tender boats and snorkeling), we were there 2 years ago on the Dawn. It was a true paradise and we had a great time snorkeling and enjoying the music and food at the beach party.
Don't Miss: Beach party and snorkeling with "Bert" and "Ernie", the 2 stingrays

Nassau, Bahamas

We visited Atlantis, which used to be Merv Griffin's Hotel and Casino years ago. It is an awe inspiring sight from the outside and even more so once you go onto the property. We took the tour and got to see the huge aquarium which is home to sharks, manta rays, eels, and many colorful tropical fish. We also took the Thriller powerboat ride around the island which was the most fun we've had in a long time.
Don't Miss: Atlantis, Senor Frogs, Thriller powerboat ride.

Port Canaveral, Florida

This was a tough choice because of all the things we could have done, from Coco Beach to Nasa but we decided on the Universal Studio package because of the kids. We took many pictures to remind us of the great time we had.
Don't Miss: Orlando and Kennedy Space Center

Pros: The whole overall experience

Cons: The size of the rooms
