Sail Date: April 01, 2014 Cabin Type: Balcony Traveled As: Couple Reviewed: 3 years ago
Overall we enjoyed the cruise and got what we wanted out of it. We mostly hung out on our balcony and just relaxed. Other than a *very* funky hallway odor\, which was apparently being worked on the whole trip\, the ship seemed very clean.
Food and Dining

We purchased the $60 dining package that's offered on embarkation day. We initially hadn't purchased it because we didn't want to pack all those nice clothes\, however\, the lady said my un-decorated tshirt and jeans were nice enough. I was skeptical but sure enough\, there were people dressed both better and worse than us. Cagney's Steakhouse and Il Adagio were both excellent. The French restaurant\, Le Bistro\, was really the only one on board that disappointed us with it's stereotypical pretentious micro-portions (the scallops appetizer is three bay scallops!). After leaving Le Bistro we had to go to the free dining room to finish eating. Incidentally\, the free dining rooms were also good an convenient for breakfast and lunch.
Service and Staff

Regarding our stateroom problems\, our room steward said he'd received the complaints and couldn't see the problem so nothing would be done. Finally on the second to last day I was able to grab a maintenance guy in the passage and show him the problem. He got out a putty knife and some wd40 and scrapped a bunch of rust off and the problem was gone in about five minutes. We were also consistently given bad information from guest services. At our first stop (great stirrup cay) we called to ask for details about the water taxi and the guy indignantly repeated that it's a \"tender\" not a \"water taxi\"\, he also told us we'd need to go buy a ticket. As we were talking down to buy tickets for the tender an announcement was made that there was only five minutes left to catch the free tender. Seriously?! The guy could have mentioned that! There were more similar interactions with guest services.

We really liked the smaller size of this ship\, there was never a time where we had to actually stand in line for anything on board.
Cabin / Stateroom

Our regular balcony stateroom was large and clean. The oft-mentioned tube TV's on this ship were gone in our state room\, however\, the LCD TV that replaced it was also ancient. If you intend to hook up a media player\, as we wished to\, to the LCD TV's you're going to need a VGA cable. I give the state room a low rating because for more than half of the trip I complained numerous times to guest services about our balcony door not being able to close. The opened door\, depending on what the ship's ventilation was doing at the time\, would either blast air through every opening into the room or suck air (and cigar smoke) in through the balcony door.
Pros: The relatively smaller ship made getting around fast and easy.
Cons: The ship's crew wasn't very helpful and sometime gave downright wrong information.
