Fantastic Cruise. Excellent value

Room Type: Oceanview

Staff were so friendly you really felt comfortable and welcome. Nothing was ever too much trouble, even when staff were confronted with rude, (and usually inebriated) passengers. The easy going nature of so many of them, welcoming you often to meals with a guitar and singsong. The cabin staff were fabulous. Was fun to get back to your cabin after evening meals to find an animal made out of towels sitting on the end of your bed! And it was such a great value for money for us. We made a last minute decision to do this cruise ( 4 days prior to sailing) and benefitted from the extreme discount. We expected to be in the bottom of the ship, near the engine, and were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves on deck 6. I guess it was just a matter of which cabins were not sold beforehand. As the distance we covered on our cruise was not really great, sometimes it hardly seemed like we were even moving. There was hardly any movement which was great for those with any motion sickness tendencies. The ports were nice with Nassau very interesting, and only a 10 minute walk from where the ship was docked to the middle of the town. Great Stirrup Cay was lovely, and the lunch provided on the island was excellent. The staff can be highly commended for how well they organised this.

Pros: Freestyle cruising - not having to have meals at pre-determined times

Cons: Intense selling attempted by various members of staff. Overpriced alcohol. When one considers the ship is at sea and duty free prices rule\, they make a huge profit from alcohol sales.

Recommends Norwegian Sky? Yes!

Ship Quality
Very clean with great amenities. Great gym\, lots of equipment\, needed to keep some of the pounds at bay. Outrigger Bar was the quiet and relaxing place to be\, at the front of the ship. Pools were quite big with 4 large spa pools between the 2 main pools. Library was a little limited in its popular book inventory. Game room had lots of board games and cards available.
Food and Dining
The 2 restaurants were fairly similar\, and the service was efficient\, if a little slow. The buffet (Garden Cafe) was great. Lots of variety\, and the biggest plus was the quality and variety of the breads baked by the bakers. It was amazing\, from pretzels to rye to sourdough and plenty more. You could eat from 5.30 (great for families with young children) till quite late. And the soft serve ice cream by the pool most of the hours of the day was a hit.
Cabin / Stateroom
The cabin was compact\, but adequate. Bathroom cute\, but functional. Good shower. Bed was comfortable for me\, although my husband found it a bit firm for his liking. It was small\, but after all\, you only go there to sleep\, so who needs more?
Service and Staff
This was the extreme positive of this ship. There was not one person who did not have a smile and welcoming nature.
Entertainment
Great entretainment on our cruise. Very talented ventriloquist who was so funny. One criticism was the price of playing Bingo. It was expensive ($39) and I think the few passengers who played reflected the price. Maybe if they reduced the price they may get more players.
