Sail Date: August 15, 2011 Ship: Norwegian Sky Cabin Type: Inside Traveled As: Couple Reviewed: 6 years ago
We recently sailed the Norwegian Sky from Miami to Bahamas on a 5 days cruise. This is Norwegian oldest and smallest ship but for the most part its renovated and upgraded to today standards. Norwegian Sky were excellent in customer service right from the beginning at checkin. The only disappointment we experienced were the choice and the quality of food on board. They have little to no seafood during the 5 days except 1 night they served lobster tails. The lobster was overcooked and dry to say the least. We were served BBQ chicken, burgers, hotdogs for the most part of the trip so unless you are meat lover then you will not enjoy their food.

Not a lot of variety besides burgers, BBQ and hotdogs for the buffet. Main dining has other dishes but the quality of food were very disappointing.

The ship was a little small compare to other cruises I've been on. The elevators had a very bad odor due to wet carpet from people jumping out of the pool and straight to the lift.
This is an industrial port, there are not a lot to do right off the ship so you'd have to take a taxi for a 20 minutes ride to get to civilization. We were glad to booked the Sea Safari Snorkeling on this island, otherwise there are a few shops and restaurant to visit but thats all. The snorkeling tour was great. They took us out on a 15-20 ride out to the ocean right on top of the corral. The water were about 10 feet deep, extremely clear and warm which was perfect for snorkeling. School of tropical fish will swim all around you if you bring some food to feed them. You can bring bread from the cruise or you can buy a bag of fish food for $1. Overall it was a great experience.
Our parasailing excursion were cancelled here due to bad weather, so we ended up roaming and exploring the island on foot. This is Bahamas's capital city with shops and restaurant but the main attraction here is the Atlantis Resort.
This was the best island during this cruise. It was the most beautiful and relaxing of them all. This is Norwegian's private island so there is nothing but sand and sea. It was the best place to swim because the water were calm and clear. We spent the most part of the day floating around in the cove and watch colorful fishes swim around our feet.
