Just What We Needed

Sail Date: August 16, 2010

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Balcony

We took our 8 year old on vacation. We work hard all year and we were ready to chill out. Of course, she is out of school for summer vacation and ready for activities!
Fortunately, everyone was accommodated on this cruise. No matter what you wanted to do, it was all available.

We really enjoyed the family activities on board also. Playing Wii, Cup Cake making, Lego family fun, and more. Our daughter enjoyed the Kids Zone which gave us time to stroll the deck alone.

Really enjoyed the Junkanoo Museum in Nassau. The hostess is extremely knowledgable and gave great historic facts about the custom and culture. Very family friendly and you get to take AWESOME photo's at the end with actual native Junkanoo headresses on!!!

Stirrup Cay was our family fun time for full activity and we had a ball swimming with the fish, snorkeling, the Hippo water slide was cool for our daughter, good food, ping pong, limbo, volley ball. It was great. Glad we got there early in the morning because the "clamshell" seating is limited and we definitely needed it when the sun was blasting down. However, you can reserve them ahead of time and not worry about it.

I took a cruise a few years ago on Royal Caribbean and this was MUCH better!
Next time, we want a penthouse!!! Enjoy your vacation.

Pros: We loved the peace and relaxation of our private balcony and the more relaxed freestyle dining when we did not feel like dressing up. Stewards were really nice and attentive.

Cons: Just wish they wouldn't let folks in the Garden Cafe by the food half naked!!! Guys with swim trunks down to their groin and no shirts, girls with G-strings and almost pasties! Kinda (NO VERY) gross when you are eating!! You wonder if "little hairs" are flying into your food when they walk by! YUCK

Like I said the Junkanoo Museum was a mustt see for historic cultural facts. Dolphin swim was fantastic. Transportation and tour guide for Junkanoo combined two ships passengers trying to stretch a buck and we got cheated even though our family was one of the actual reservations the ship made. We ended up in another van which was not expressly for the tour and in a hurry to get to the next site so he could dump us and get more fare. He did not tell us one thing about the Queens Staircase and we actually had to find it ourselves after he just put us out at the stop. I felt very cheated. NCL only refunded a few dollars for this inconvenience. We had to walk for about 10 minutes just to get more transportation after they filled up our reserved van with other people. Then the driver kept trying to leave people saying they can get a taxi back!!! We PAID for this excursion which included the transportation they used on others!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great Stirrup Cay (Cruiseline Private Island), Bahamas
