Sail Date: March 01, 2010
Ship: Norwegian Sky
Cabin Type: Oceanview
Traveled As: Family (older children)

The ship was older (10 years) not many amenities on board. Staff seemed overworked. Food at the afternoon BBQ's was very economically done ie. hamburgers, hot dogs, a pasta salad. Lighting lamp in our cabin was broken. We had 3 people reserved for our room but only 2 of everything was continually left even after we mentioned this to the staff. Mandatory tips were put on our bill for drinks. I myself feel that forced and "mandatory" tips defeat the purpose of a tip. A $12.00 a day, per person ,service fee was put on our bill and no mention of this was given to us when we booked the cruise. Basically the entire cruise seemed a watered down version of what a cruise should be and we have cruised other lines.

Food and Dining

One dinner menu noted a lobster tail as an entree choice. What came to the table was a half of one lobster tail. The staff was generous and did bring us all another half upon request

Soooo average. Only one comedian stood out and made us laugh (the heavy guy)

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
Seemed overworked, not friendly as other lines we have been on. I think the "freestyle" cruising lowers the quality. Staff are not assigned a dinner table nor a stateroom, so they lose that personal touch and seem just not to care. We noted staff did not even say hello when passing in the hall.

Ship Quality

Older ship things seemed worn like the carpeting

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Broken lamp, worn carpeting, torn bed comforter

Pros: The comedian at one of the evening shows

Cons: Not able to sleep because of drunk college Spring breakers roaming the halls

Recommends Norwegian Sky? No.
