Perfect Quick Get-A-Way

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

Sky is a beautiful ship in excellent condition. Hawaiian decor, while slightly out of place for a Bahama Cruise, is very attractive. Super clean ship, everywhere I looked, if cruise staff is not waiting on you they are cleaning and I'm talking nook & cranny cleaning. Being a non-smoker I was impressed with the lack of smoking which used to be a problem on past cruises. People are very considerate and stick to the smoking areas.

Pros: Great Stirrup Cay Private Island

Cons: Nothing

Recommends Norwegian Sky? Yes!

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
All of the food we had was of very good quality. I've been on cruises that offered higher end meals, but this was very good. First time with Free Style and it was pleasant to walk in whenever we wanted. We never had to wait for a table. The main 2 restaurants were very attractive. We did not try specialty dining, but saw the restaurants and they looked great.
Cabin / Stateroom
Stateroom size was very adequate as was bathroom size. Clean and well decorated. We were on deck 8 Forward and it was a very smooth sail and great location. Bed was a bit hard, but we're fussy for beds.
Service and Staff
Free Style cruising has it's benefits for sure, but you don't get to know your cabin steward or wait staff as on a traditional cruise. Every staff member we encountered, even in the halls always had a smile and friendly "Hello". Very pleasant staff.
Entertainment
Entertainment was excellent. The dancers and singers are really outstanding and full of energy. Comedian was very funny. Lots to do if you're looking for fun.
Great Stirrup Cay (Cruiseline Private Island), Bahamas
How can you beat a private island - it's beautiful. I've been to other cruise line's private islands and this is excellent, only surpassed by Disney's Private Island, but it's hard to beat Disney at much. The BBQ lunch was good, and the beach is wonderful as was the band that played there on the island most of the day. They'll even bring your tropical drinks to you in your lounge chair. It was too cold to snorkle the day we were there, but I hear it's good.
Don't Miss: Relaxing in the sun.
Nassau, Bahamas
We aren't big fans of Nassau, but we still had fun there. It's famous for great shopping, but we don't shop much. We took a surrey ride to see the town and it was good - negotiate your price - we got it from $40 down to $20. We took a water taxi to Paradise Island - fun and interesting, but be ready with tip money for everyone you see. We walked over to see Atlantis, short walk, I'd recommend taking a tour, about $30, so you don't miss anything. Water taxi to Paradise is $3, taxi from Paradise back to cruise pier is $4 if you don't care to walk back to water taxi boat.
