4 Night Bahamas (Miami Roundtrip) Sail Date: September 08, 2008 Ship: Norwegian Sky Cabin Type: Inside Traveled As: Family (young children) Reviewed: 9 years ago
Although, the staff were incredibly polite and sweet, the actual product was not that exciting. The menus were bland. The talent was amateur - the dancers were often unengaged and displaying poor/ lazy technique. The night events were swarming with teenagers which made it actually uncomfortable to enjoy any of the parties. The White Hot night for example was predominantly teens bumping and grinding and their parents running in after them.
Lastly, the ship was not actually set up to accommodate children. I feel that the staff made an attempt to do so but that they were not generally accustomed to doing so. For example- my 4 year old was not once served his beverages before dessert (meaning it took throughout the appetizer and main course to get it). They also repeatedly served the children their meals before anyone ever got an appetizer which made it very stressful since they would be finished way before the rest of the party. Every single night, they gave out coloring books/menus without any crayons. Lots of silly things added up to make the evenings out kind of stressful.

The menu was definitely scaled down and not very exciting. I actually had flashbacks to dining commons when we were in college...

The Stardust Theater performances were kind of awful. As a professional Dancer married to a professional musician, we were so excited to see the performances! (Especially after enjoying the high quality entertainment on The Dawn!) These dancers were often unengaged and lazy performers. The actual productions were cheesy and poorly choreographed. The singers were often off key. The one woman was so old that it was awkward watching her perform the roles of younger parts.
There was also a severe lack of variety.
The comedian was the best part of their line-up.

The kids corner was really gloomy. There was a large selection of board games. My son attempted to stay on the first night and I was paged within 3 minutes because he cried. I felt that the staff could have done something (even tried anything) to help him feel comfortable or interested in participating... so basically not so sure that the people working there had any real child care experience.
The children's pool was a rectangle filled with salt water that basically served as a place to put children so they would not bother adults.
Teens were all over what should have been adult parties. Perhaps if they had their own parties, it would have been more appropriate.
Overall - not a great children's cruise program.

Everyone was sincerely dedicated to making the experience a pleasant one. They made the under-par talent and dining .... tolerable!

These rooms were actually wonderful! The beds were super comfortable and the service was impeccable!
So many options! We've been here before with Norwegian over night, so it was cool to see the great things that were offered as day time activities!
Don't Miss: Atlantis - Predators Lagoon. It is a larger outdoor lagoon that is swarming with many species of sharks and fish that will take up to 2 hours to walk through viewing!
As usual, it was beautiful! I love how easy it is to actually relax. With so much to pay for and do at other ports - this one is truly relaxing. Out door barbecues, hammocks and snorkeling make the day fun and easy.
We also went parasailing (for $80 each) yet the experience lasted less than 3 minutes total. I thought it was fun but grossly overpriced for the time you actually get to participate.
Don't Miss: Snorkeling.
Pros: There were plenty of children on this specific sailing date which was great considering we sailed with both of our young children.
Cons: The overall quality of everything was a lot lower than other ships we have been on (Norwegian Dawn for example)
