Ship: Norwegian Sky (RETIRED) 139 Reviewed: 8 years ago
I'll start by saying that the past three cruises we have taken were with Celebrity Cruises and were just awesome. We boarded the Norwegian Sky in Honolulu with low expectations due to some of the reviews we had read (small cabin space, bad service, etc.). We were, therefore, not surprised by the small size of the cabin, in fact, it was comfortable and fine for two (we had an outside with balcony). We had enough room to store all items we had brought (no tuxedos or gowns). We loved the Freestyle Dining and never had to wait for a table for two. The main dining rooms had okay service and the food was just okay. The alternative restaurants were the biggest treat and well worth the extra $10 per person - very romantic. The room service was quick, but having to have small bills handy for each and every room service delivery for tips seemed out of the scheme of Freestyle Cruising and was a nuisance.Embarkation went smoothly, even with all the extra security -- as did disembarkation -- which was the most relaxing of our 17 cruises thus far. We happened to be traveling at the time of the World Series and looked forward to watching it in the Sports Bar - no such luck. They didn't get FOX. We were able however to "watch" it on the Internet, in the Internet Cafe, which was almost as good. They didn't get any NFL games either. The shops aboard were nothing to write home about but the shows were great and we had fun at the art auction (a first for us). "The Art Guy," Charlie, was informative and fun. All in all, an extremely relaxing vacation even though the sun didn't shine every day.You make your own memories - and we made some great ones. Happy cruising.
