We've been on many, many cruises over the past 15 years, so we feel qualified to rate the Norwegian Sea. For an old ship, it really was OK. Everything was conveniently located. The staterooms are very small and the mattresses horrible. I felt the springs all night long, every night. They could invest in some decent bedding and pillows. The food served, most of the time, was below average. Freestyle dining does not work. You either have to arrive early or very late, otherwise, be prepared to wait to be seated and for service as well. Sitting with different people every single night is a strain. The conversation is always the same -- retired? How many children? How many grandchildren? Where do you live? What did you do for work?, etc., etc.People are always very nice but we really look forward to a peaceful meal after a long day. Tip to any of you who enjoy the casino. Don't enter the slot tournament -- you might win that 7 day cruise. After the excitement wears off you find out that the 7 day cruise you just won will cost you a bundle of money if you want an outside room plus plane fare and port charges and it's only good in off-season with pre-selected dates and you can only book through Norwegian at brochure rates. Not allowed to use a travel agency. They offer you an inside cabin at the bottom deck of the ship. So much for being lucky!! We were fortunate as we did not encounter any serious problems but some of the people we spoke to did and they were not helped at all by the Staff. Think Norwegian Cruise Line should look at some of their policies and consider the passengers first and the $$$ second. You need to treat passengers fairly and give value for money spent. They should want to improve the reputation.
