Everything I expected!

Sail Date: June 13, 2010

Reviewed: 7 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

Excellent, everything I had hoped for in a 1st cruise.

Pros: The glaciers, the scenery, the wildlife

Cons: Wish there were more elegance, i.e. ice sculptures, non-consumable chocolate sculptures, an actual ball, or formal. TOO much accent on mass consumption.

Recommends Norwegian Pearl? Yes!

Service and Staff
Staff seems highly motivated, friendly, especially officers, and senior staff members.

The ships excursions desk personnel could do better, responded in a curt manner when I inquired about the fact that most shops would be closed when we arrived in Victoria BC. I got basically, "that's just the way it is" and didn't want to venture on info not related to the excursions offered.
Ship Quality
Ship was gorgeous, always well kept.
Food and Dining
Food, great, a wonderful variety, and plentiful. Drinks, a good variety, but sometimes "watered down". ALWAYS ready to serve though.
Cabin / Stateroom
Size, great, wouldn't settle for less than a balcony stateroom for Alaska!
Comedians and Jugglers, fantastic. Dancers very nice. Second City performers...uggh, loss them. They think more of themselves than the audience does. Frankie Valley singers..ok, stick to singing and lose the attempt at comedy.
Ketchikan, Alaska
Fun at the Lumberjack show, and of course shopping. Wished for more time there.
Don't Miss: No answer there, plenty of great excursions, hard to pick one.
Victoria, British Columbia
Got there when most stores closed. Much of the time there it was dark so hard to sightsee that way. Wished for more time there during the day! Left early, had fun on practically empty vessel.
Don't Miss: The local chocolate
Skagway, Alaska
We focused on shopping, not interested in train rides
Don't Miss: Great jewelry buys!
Juneau, Alaska
Best of all port stops for me.
Don't Miss: Whale watching, glacier viewing
