It was a great vacation.

Sail Date: August 19, 2007

Traveled As: Large Group

Room Type: Balcony

The Pearl is a big, new ship with a lot of glitz. It had a lot of choices for restaurants and activities which we liked. The pool was heated, so our kids swam even though the air temperature was chilly.

Pros: The food, the ship, the ports, glacier bay.

Cons: There wasn't anything really bad.

Recommends Norwegian Pearl? Yes!

We only walked from the terminal to the fisherman's wharf and then downtown then back. We enjoyed the walk, but didn't really explore too much. I didn't really like having this stop on our last night, because I was worried about getting packed for our family that night. Our stop started at 6:00 PM, so there wasn't much daylight to do too much.
Skagway, Alaska
This was a neat, clean town with a lot of cute shops. We enjoyed shopping and going on the afternoon train ride up to the White Pass summit. Would have liked to try some of the nature activities at this port.
Juneau, Alaska
We took our own bus ride on the Mendanhall glacier express to the glacier. The park and trails were nice, but busy. We enjoyed the visitor center with the kids. We did a little tourist shopping, but didn't eat anywhere.

5 of our group went fishing on a charter from Knudson marina that we booked ourselves to save money. The rest of us just walked around the shopping area. The fishing for salmon was slow, but everyone caught one fish. It was rainy, so the shopping wasn't as fun.
