This was our first NCL cruise - overall it was very nice. The ship is brand new so therefore in great shape - we all thought the decor was very relaxed and modern. Overall we had a great family vacation but I have to mention the biggest con was definetly the dining. We chose NCL for the freestyle dining and the great itinery this sailing offered. The fact that we in in port usually much longer than other ships, and even 4 hours longer than on our original itinerary on two ports!, was great but we found making reservations for a party of 8 between 6:30 and 8:30 was almost impossible. When we were able to get a table at our desired time, we would see Many empty tables around us. When we finally spoke up and asked someone why we couldn't get a reservation when there were plenty of tables open they told us that they had to leave a certain number of tables open for the "walk-ins". We could have chosen to be the "walk-ins" but we would have had to wait about a half hour or possibly more to get a table for 8. So, all that said, I think the dining would be great for several young couples but it was very difficult for a large party and one with children who don't want to have a drink while they wait for a table. We may do NCL again, but not with the kids. Royal Caribbean and of course Disney just do that better.
Good Family Vacation
Sail Date: March 01, 2007
Traveled As: Family (young children)
Pros: The new ship and the overall attitude of crew was very friendly
Cons: Freestyle dining - can see how it would work for 2 or 4 people but does not work well for large groups; have to end up making reservations
