A good start for a great ship!

Sail Date: December 22, 2006

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Inside

Overall we had a great time. Loved the itinerary and the new ship. Would try it again in a year or so, once they get the kinks out and improve the quality of service.

Pros: The ship! The itinerary. The casual dress-code for dinner.

Cons: Tendering at 3 of 4 ports. Room assignment mix-up. Inconsistent quality of service.

Recommends Norwegian Pearl? Yes!

Cayo Levantado (Samana), Dominican Republic
Just went to beach at Cayo Levantado. Pretty and not overcrowded.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruiseline Private Island), Bahamas
The best beach-front area was dense with people. It was definitely not large enough to accomodate the 2,000+ people. However, the island was pretty and there were places to explore via a walk or swim or kayak.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Unfortunately, we had to tender in to St. Thomas which meant waiting. We then went on our own and took a ferry to St. John, as we find St. Thomas to be crowded and overbuilt. St. John has managed to keep its charm and we loved snorkeling at Cinnamon Bay. There seemed to be lots of hidden accesses to unnamed beach areas, so talk to people in the know and maybe you can strike gold.
Road Town, Tortola, B.V.I.
We took the beach excursion to Cane Garden Bay. Lovely beach and enjoyed the scenery to and from. Be prepared for hair-raising twists and turns on the mountainous drive.
