Norwegian Pearl

Sail Date: December 01, 2009

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

We sailed on the Norwegian Pearl for a week following Thanksgiving. The cruise director went above and beyond planning several activities for each evening. There were 2 shows each night, movie showings, and dancing venues. The ship has several restaurants. We were on a budget, so we stuck to those restaurants with no additional charge, so I can't comment on the specialty restaurants. Notwithstanding, we were left with plenty of food options. We especially enjoyed the Summer Palace for dinners. We did get the impression of nickle & dime-ing based on the drink costs and sales pitches for a future cruise, raffle tickets etc.

Pros: Food options, entertainment, Attentive staff

Cons: Daily service charge

Recommends Norwegian Pearl? No.

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
Norwegian's freestyle cruising allows you to go to eat without the need for advance reservations. We were traveling for a relaxing week and were able to eat each night without the need for advance reservations.
Cabin / Stateroom
We purchased the least expensive outdoor cabin. It was roomier than we thought it would be, but the window was just a porthole that could not be opened. We didn't get a chance to see the indoor cabins, but it made us think there might have been just as good.
Entertainment
The entertainment was a mixed bag. The comedic, acrobatic and juggling performances were top-notch. There was however a dance/singing troupe that was not good at all.
Children's Programs
We weren't traveling with children, but could not help notice the Kids activity center and kids' pool. Children seemed to be well-entertained
