15 Night Panama Canal Eastbound (Los Angeles To Miami)
Sail Date: September 29, 2007
Ship: Norwegian Pearl
Cabin Type: Oceanview
Traveled As: Couple
Reviewed: 9 years ago
The Norwegian Pearl was really beautiful and well designed. The stateroom (an outer regular cabin) was carefully planned. I particularly liked the bathroom, since it was functional in spite of the limited space and had handles to grab on to. I had dislocated a knee before the trip and was positively impressed by the ease of getting around the ship in wheelchair and later with a walker. The food was absolutely superb. We happen to prefer the well appointed dining rooms and specialty restaurant, but the food was of top quality at the buffet as well. On the negative side - we did not get the paperwork until two days before departure in spite of booking and paying months in advance. Embarkation and disembarkations routines provided serious bottlenecks and long waiting times and can hopefully be improved. However, I escaped the bulk of the embarkation problems by being in a wheelchair!

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
See above. We particularly liked to imagination and variety. Occasionally the description in the menu and the food on the plate did not quite match, but that was minor.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
All of the entertainment was very good. Some of the lectures need to update their AV:s

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff could not be better. They were overall very helpful without being overbearing or trying to get tips.

Cartagena is a lovely port. We did our own sightseeing and were well treated by a taxi driver. We would like to return

We did the sloth excursion on the cruise program and it was an absolute delight, even for me with a walker.
Don't Miss: The sloth park

Acapulco was quite ugly and poor. We just made a short visit and were well treated by a Tourism Bureau representative, but do not plan to return

We had been there before and just made a brief sightseeing.

This port is pretty and friendly. We just took a taxi into town and enjoyed the port
