An Outstanding Cruise Experience

Sail Date: August 26, 2007

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

An excellent ship and wonderful cruise experience. Off ship trips were mediocre at best.

Pros: The ship was excellent in every way.

Cons: Purchased on ship for off-shore excursions. Extremely over-priced and minimal satisfaction.

Food and Dining
Ship had free-style cruising. We dined when we wanted, where we wanted, and with whom we wanted. In short we were not tied down to any specific schedule. They provided a variety of restaurants and we selected the type of restaurant we wanted to eat on each day. Quality of the food was excellent, and the service was outstanding.
Service and Staff
The entire staff is well trained to please customers. Extremely helpful, polite, courteous and attentive, and readily available. Every place you look someone was there to help, greet and serve.
Ship Quality
Ship is beautiful and very large, but very accessible once you become accustomed. Very neat and well maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
We had an outside balcony room. The room provided a great deal of comfort, including a king-size bed, and room maintenance was superb.
Activities were good; entertainment was very good on some nights, and ok on other nights.
Juneau, Alaska
We went whale watching for a second time (previously done in Hawaii). It was a waste. Mendenhall glacier was nice to see. This trip was purchased on board for $134pp. Absolutely not worth the money!
Don't Miss: In retrospect, Juneau looked like a nice little town. We should have just walked around town or taken a tour of the town.
Victoria, British Columbia
The ship arrived at 6:00PM. We toured Bushardt Gardens in the dark. This was absolutely stupid since you can't see anything, and not worth $89pp(again purchased in advance on ship).
Don't Miss: Victoria,BC appears to be an absolutely beautiful city. I regret we did not spend any time since the ship was leaving at midnight.
Skagway, Alaska
White Pass railway was a good trip. Comfortable, relaxing and nice sights to see. Panning for gold was a waste. Again, $145pp (on ship) is greatly overpriced.
Don't Miss: White Pass Railway (but don't purchase on ship-there is an extra charge).
Ketchikan, Alaska
Saxman Village is an absolute waste. Lumberjack show was good, but again $79pp is not worth the money.
Don't Miss: We should have just toured the city, and purchase any activities in town.
