Review summary

The ship is brand new and this was its maiden voyage. Everything was bright and shiny. Since it is brand new, it does have a few minor kinks that need to be worked out and I'm sure they will be. I didn't think that the on-board stores had a varied selection and were rather pricey. Also, the staff in one of the stores weren't friendly or welcoming. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we will definitely go on it again.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was very good and always nicely presented. The "Summer Palace" and "Indigo" have the exact same menus which change daily. The Indigo has an intimate setting but the Summer Palace is beautiful and elegant. I wish there had been more vegetarian dishes/choices at all of the restaurants. Also, the "Blue Lagoon" (the only restaurant open all-night) needs more variety of sweets. An all-night ice cream/dessert bar would have been great.

Typical cruise entertainment but with lots of variety. They had lots of classes/seminars that I wanted to attend but didn't because they were scheduled a little too early in the morning, especially for those of us who were up quite, quite late (or early).

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our two room stewards were very friendly and did a wonderful job. They went well above and beyond their jobs and always had a smile on their faces no matter what. The ship's other staff were friendly, courteous, and very helpful. All the staff we encountered made us feel very special. Because we weren't able to watch the new DVDs that we brought with us, the concierge had them taken to the Media Room where they showed them on one of the ship's channels so that we could see them.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is in wonderful condition and very clean but then it is brand new. The only problem is that not all elevators went to all public decks which was a pain at times.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It was everything we expected and then some. We had an aft Penthouse Suite which was a very nice size. The only problem we had was that we were located 4 decks below the outside cafe and, when the cafe was hosed down at night, some of the water and debris would end up on our balcony. Also, our DVD player didn't work with the flat screen TV in our suite but was going to be fixed once we reached port.

Pros: Everything, especially the staff.

Cons: The lack of seating in the Garden Cafe (buffet) and no food trays to carry dishes.

Recommends Norwegian Pearl? Yes!
