Review SummaryWe went on this cruise for our 33rd wedding anniversary and a much-needed restful vacation! Everything was more than adequate -- not overly fancy, but plenty of everything!
It was wonderful to be able to leave from Charleston after driving 3 hours from Georgia, rather than a 2-day journey to Florida. Everything was neat and clean, all the employees (from embarkation to the ship's personnel) were polite, accomodating and respectful. We were so excited as they began our cruise with encouraging, caring words!
The smallest staterooms are small indeed - since we had the beds together, I had to squeeze through a 5-inch opening between bed and desk to get to my side of the bed. I think we'd go with the 2 twin beds next time!
The food was wonderful, well-prepared and a great variety. We always had someplace to go and lots of choices! This was the first cruise I'd been on where the beverages were so limited (water, tea, coffee - no hot chocolate, juices only available during the breakfast hours.)
We had a huge problem finding chairs on the deck - a couple of times we dragged chairs to the Promenade Deck so we could sit and relax, since this was the whole point of our cruise!
We enjoyed the ports, although we can't give much feedback on them since we only went ashore for an hour or so in each port -- again, we wanted to enjoy the views, the ship, and DOING NOTHING!
The shows at night looked promising, although we walked out at the beginning of all but one of them. There was much adult content - profanity, sexual situations and "jokes" - and we were quite disappointed after getting dressed up, anticipating a musical show or comedian, and then leaving when it became apparent that it was not "family-friendly" at all!
I had called NCL before booking the cruise, incidentally, to check into the nature of the entertainment; I was told that it was very family-oriented, none of the entertainers would dream of using profanity or sexual "humor," and that it was quite safe for even young children. We felt very uncomfortable with the material presented, with few exceptions, and can't imagine the parents of children on the cruise could be alright with it either.
But, since we didn't go on the cruise for the entertainment and KNOWING that our room was the smallest on the ship, we were thrilled with the experience and returned home rested and refreshed -- as planned!

Pros: The service, the friendly employees, the flexible schedules, close-to-home port!
Cons: Having to leave every evening "show" except one due to profanity and sexual language/content - Not being able to find a chair on deck, tiny workout room, bruised knee from trying to get through5-inch space between desk and bed -
