7 Night Western Caribbean (Charleston Roundtrip)
Sail Date: February 17, 2007
Ship: Norwegian Majesty
Cabin Type: Oceanview
Traveled As: Family (older children)

Poorly maintained vessel, odd odors in the hallways, buckling carpets. We startedt he trip out with a fire in the hold, then one of the engines blew, causing us to nearly miss Grand Cayman. Most tours were cancelled, and we spent the majority of our already shortened time waiting in line for the ONE tender to bring almost 1,000 passengers back to the ship.

Food and Dining

Loved not having a set dinner time. You could eat meals wherever and whenever you wanted. Food was superb, staff friendly.

We found ourselves bored often, not being into pool games and drinking. We did love Shark Bait, their jugglers. Most fun we had all trip! Never seen anything like them before.

Jason the shopping guru was wonderful. I attended many of his very informative talks on purchasing all kinds of things. Was very approachable, even on land. Cleopatra and Helen in the jewelry shop were equally as wonderful.

Public areas were very crowded, odd odors in the corridors, carpets were buckling in many places.

Cabin / Stateroom

I have cruised many times, this was THE smallest cabin I've ever seen! We were the last cabin, directly over the broken engine which made for 7 VERY noisy nights.

Chickens in the streets! Imagine an $8 million condo with chickens in the yard. Trolley tours were great, drivers lots of fun. Loved the vendors on the waterfront
Don't Miss: The waterfront nightly celebration of the sunset, the Trolley Tours

LOVE Cozumel. This is my third time there. Many bargains to be had, lots of fun places to see. Nearly every shop offered free tequila!
Don't Miss: Los Cincos Soles in the mall off the pier. Beautiful handcrafts and jewelry

Due to being several hours late getting into port, we didn't get to see or do much. I visited Georgetown last in 1990 on a cruise-boy has it changed! Lots of shopping, lots to see, but difficult to find a cab anywhere unless you have 4 people going to the same place. Don't bother with Hell, it's not worth the trip.
Don't Miss: The Turtle Farm was incredible-wish we could have spent the whole day.

Pros: Freestyle Cruising-dinner whenever and wherever you like!

Cons: The fire on board, the broken engine, nearly missing one port

Recommends Norwegian Majesty? No.
