Sail Date: October 01, 2006 Ship: Norwegian Majesty Cabin Type: Oceanview Traveled As: Singles/Friends Reviewed: 10 years ago
Have sailed on the Majesty many times and always have a great time. The crew is always terrific, entertainment is good, food is good and Bermuda is always beautiful. Have sailed the Majesty before it was stretched and preferred it as a smaller ship. There was less crowding in public areas that were not built for the # of passengers, and the ship was more intimate, no shortage of seating, etc. Some people like bigger ships, we prefer smaller. Love crusing out of Boston, makes life so easy. Some folks expect much more for their $850 (avg) but keep in mind that $200+ goes to taxes, port charges, and insurance. Where else can you go for 7 nights, visit a beautiful island, eat til you explode, laugh til you cry, meet great friends, and just relax for arounnd $600? Now I ask you people, be realistic they have to make a profit somewhere. Okay so the fancy drinks are expensive. We did notice the changes in the bar program offerings, and the limited Latitudes offerings.
Food and Dining

Had read bad reviews earlier this season about the menu and was hesitant but a new menu was introduced and we had some fabulous meals. Had a superb meal in the Bistrio, first visit for this restaurant. Would suggest making reservations in the Bistro or Pasta Cafe early in the week, we did it when we boarded.

Shows always good, some terrific entertainers. Would recommend new show offerings for next season. Can't beat the comedian from 2005 season, Rudi can't be matched. Allen Roman in the Polo lounge was wonderful, best entertainer we have had the pleasure to enjoy in the Polo. Very talented gentleman, and fun! Enjoyed chatting with Allen daily. Missed the Caribbean Wave Band, they're entitled to a vacation. New Caribbean band good, although some older folks told me they weren't real crazy about the music; a little to hard for the older crowd. Feel the Cruise Director needs to be more involved with the passengers. Had cruised 2x previously when was the Royal Majesty and the pool games were outstanding. There was more passenger involvement throughout the week with the build up to the pool olympics and horse racing, etc.
Service and Staff

Love the crew. Always enjoy making new friends from around the world, and many of the crew members endear themselves to us each and every time. Bar crew outstanding, cabin attendants outstanding, dining room staffs friendly, courteous and attentive. Ate in all 4 restaurants, the buffet and the pizza/burger stand. Not a complaint from us. There are many choices, even the pickiest eater should be able to find something, but I did hear some complaints. Some people are just hard to please.

This is an older ship, has sailed the Atlantic for years and has some wear and tear. Overall I think the ship is still in good shape. I can see where carpeting, furniture and upholstery have been updated. The ship is clean, crew are cleaning 24 hrs/day. After many cruises, I am familiar with the layout and easily know my way around. I will miss the Majesty when they retire her. Will contiue to sail out of Boston as long as the Majesty docks here.

Cabin on Deck 3 was fine. Have had smaller cabins on decks 6 & 7, where we prefer to be. Cabin attendants couldn't have been better. Had some issues with the safe, the shower and water quality. All were attended to in reasonable time.
Pros: Fun with the crew, met some new friends onboard, met up with passengers from past years, had some great food!
Cons: Whining passengers! Is it necessary to berate a bartender because the pen doesn't work? Unfortunately have seen this behavior before from Bostonians and find it embarrassing!
