Small Ship but excellent staff

Sail Date: October 07, 2007

Reviewed: 9 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/young children

Room Type: Inside

The ship was quite small and even though we experienced calm seas, the rolling motion of the ship was much more prevelant than larger ships. If this was a first time cruise, I am not sure I would return. However the crew were over accomodating and did their best to ensure everyone was having a good time. Directed activities such as Bingo, shows, contests and casino activities were prevelant but couldn't make up for the absence of other "Do it yourself type activities" available on the larger ships e.g. rock climbing walls, ice skating rinks, minature golf, large shopping court. Rooms were really tiny as expected and showed signs of wear but were very comfortable non the less.

Pros: Staff was plentifull, cheerfull and accomodating

Cons: Size of the ship was quite small and reasons for going into dry dock for next 10 days were evident

Recommends Norwegian Majesty (RETIRED)? No.

Cabin / Stateroom
Extremely tiny and in need of repair - ship was heading to dry dock after ariving into port.
Ship Quality
This was the last sailing of the Majesty prior to going into dry dock for 10 days for repairs. The reasons for dry dock were apparant by the conditions of the peeling deck floors , loud rumbling noise of the rear smoke stacks and railing repair work being done by the crew. The stateroom sink drain was rusty and the corners of the shower showed signs of mildew and age. However as on most ships the crew was constantly visible vacuming and doing their best to keep up with the work required to keep a ship clean.
Food and Dining
Serving stations offering made to order pasta, stir fry, omlets, etc were wonderful. However the buffet options were not often pleasing to the eye and often picked over by the passengers despite the crews attempts to keep up. The true dining experience (as could be expected) was in the formal dining rooms were attention to each plate could be given and passengers could dine without having to eat at a prescribed time and dress code could range from a golf shirt to a tuxedo as desired by the passenger.
Children's Programs
Ship size prohibits options available on larger ships. After experiencing a larger ship with a wide range of options, my 8 year old son was soon disapointed with the closet size arcade with 3 out of the 8 games broken.
Ship size prohibits options available on larger ships. Self directed leisure activities other than laying on a chair in the sun are not available. However if you are into joining in on group activities once again the crew goes above and beyond to make it enjoyable.
Service and Staff
Crew staff ratio to passengers were amazing. Everyone was cheerfull and did their best to ensure passenger happiness. Crew made an effort to know each passenger by name and make them feel important.
St. George's, Bermuda
We rented scooters for the day and soon understood why this is not for the faint of heart. Although experienced with motorcycles, the roads are really narrow and have heavy bus traffic. It takes a deceptively long time to get from point A to point B making it hard to do it all. The Crystal Caves are pretty but are deceptively small, the photo's in the brochure show the whole cave.
Don't Miss: The amazing beaches are beyond beautiful and can't be described with any justice.
