A great first cruise experience!

This was our very first cruise experience and it did meet and/or exceed our expectations at times. Our stateroom was about what we anticipated in size. Additional storage space for baggage would have helped a lot. The staff was the best! Everyone was very polite and accommodating. The cleanliness of our stateroom was excellent. Our housekeeper was always cheerful and friendly, taking the time to remember how to pronounce our name and inquiring about how our day went. The food was good but not outstanding. A pleasant surprise was the "On Shore Dining" allowance and the great food we had at a local restaurant in St. George's. There was always something to do on the ship. The pools were disappointing and the poolside area was very crowded and loud at times but there were enough venues for passengers who wanted quiet time. On the negative side was the transportation options in St. George's. Our captain gave a cautionary statement on the inherent dangers of scooters which left the bus or taxi to get to Hamilton. The taxi fares were steep unless shared with multiple people and the bus rides were crowded and long.

Cons: Expense of alcoholic beverages and island transportation.

Recommends Norwegian Majesty (RETIRED)? Yes!

Food and Dining
The food was average to good. The variety and selection were great and everything was presented nicely but lacked in quality at times. The omeletes and the carved meats at the buffet stations were better than at the main dining rooms.
Cabin / Stateroom
The mattresses were very hard on the back. The drawers were too small to store much of anything so basically your clothes lived in the suitcase. The safe was easy to use and a great feature to protect valuables.
Ship Quality
THe pools and hot tub sizes were disappointing.
Service and Staff
The staff was great, always polite but would engage in conversation if you encouraged it.
St. George's, Bermuda
The White Horse Restaurant was very good. Gibbs Lighthouse gives a great panoramic view and is worth the climb to the top. Horseshoe Bay beach is nice but don't depend on the showers in the changing station. The water is cold and sometimes only trickled. We would have gladly paid a fee for hot water and a better facility like they provide at some beaches in the US.
