Great Time out of Charleston

Sail Date: March 25, 2006

Reviewed: 11 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

From the first lunch while we sat in the harbour in Charleston, until that final breakfast, we had a great time. The theater was a little small, but the shows were pretty good. The singers and comedians were great, and we certainly enjoyed our shore excursions. The only real glitch on the trip was a problem with the anchor in Cozumel. That cut our stay a little short in Key West, but we would have crawled back onto the ship and headed out again--if we had the time.

Pros: Great staff on the Majesty.

Cons: That ridiculous ramp to get on the boat in Charleston

Ship Quality
Cabin / Stateroom
While most of the staterooms may have been excellent, ours was in a category where we could not choose a specific room, and we were stuck with one so small we had to crawl across the bed to get to the dresser, and the only entrance to the bed was to crawl in from the foot. Pay the extra money to choose a stateroom.
Food and Dining
Tandoori chicken wasn't that great--but there was certainly plenty of other choices on the menu. Great dining experience.
Service and Staff
Cozumel, Mexico
Shopping was a lot of fun, but don't shop if you don't want to dicker--every where we shopped, every blouse or dress available was "just your size" as my wife looked through the racks. Being a little fearful of the cuisine, we dined at Hard Rock Cafe--and it was good food at a reasonable cost.
Don't Miss: If you get on the island and just want to hang out, make your trip to Playa Mia. There are great packages there for beach goers.
Key West, Florida
Key West would have been more fun had we had the extra time we lost at another stop--Take the trolley or Conch train ride through town, then walk and look at the crowds. Avoid the bar crawls--we saw too many drunks trying to get back to the ship--remember your trip.
Don't Miss: Trolley//Conch train ride, then shop!
George Town, Grand Cayman
We took the Discover Cayman tour, and we were delighted. The bus ride may not be for the weak of heart--watching trucks and buses coming down the "wrong" side of the road, but we had a great time.
