7 Night Mexican Riviera (Los Angeles Roundtrip) Sail Date: April 17, 2016 Ship:Norwegian Jewel Cabin Type: Balcony Cabin Number:9118 Traveled As: Singles/Friends Reviewed: 2 years ago
The staff on ship were very friendly, courteous, and helpful. The itinerary was good with a nice ratio of land and sea days. The food was good. The disappointment came with the on ship activities. The majority of the scheduled activities required additional fees (lots of pricey bingo and "deal or no deal" games) or were looking to get additional fees after booking sessions for acupuncture demonstrations, feet/standing analysis seminars, various spa services to make you look younger seminars, art auctions, art raffles, poker and blackjack tournaments, etc. There were very few activities that did not require additional fees, so it felt like the cruise line was constantly trying to get in your wallet while on board and it was kind of boring if you weren't shelling out more money on top of what you paid for the cruise and shore excursion, which was very disappointing.

When we first arrived, we had to ask the cabin steward to touch up the mirrors. There were droplet of something sprayed on most of the mirrors and some type of hair grease on the mirror above the bed that he failed to remove. Didn't get our notice to change clocks on one of the nights that was supposed to be delivered to the room, ice bucket was not replenished on the last night, pieces of candy under the bed from previous passengers, the mid to upper shelves were not dusted, and the balcony had a hair tie from previous cruisers, previously wet dust bunny clusters, and a 2 foot long bird poop streak down the glass portion of the railing.
Tsar's Restaurant had the quickest service and was never completely full. Was told that it has the same menu as Azure which is the other included in fare price restaurant. Teppanyaki restaurant- cook was friendly and had a good show, but the food was just okay. Not worth $30 plus gratuity p/p.
Las Caletas hideaway excursion was enjoyable. Boat ride to it was a little long, but the crew was entertaining and made the trip back not seem so long. Lots of activities on the island and a huge spread of food at lunch. So much to do that it would have been good to have extra time there. Great staff on island and on boat.
