Worst Cruise Experience

Sail Date: December 01, 2014

Room Type: Balcony

I have never before experienced such terrible service on a cruise. Any question or problem that you bring up to the Guest Services Desk is met with a brusque dismissal followed by some variation of \"There's nothing we can do about that\"; they don't even bother pretending to be helpful. We had to go through roughly 3 levels of management to get the loud noise that our A/C was making in our stateroom fixed (so clearly\, there was something that could be done). We had a problem with one of our shore excursions and needed the tickets refunded\, but when we approached a representative at the Shore Excursions Desk about it\, he acted as though he couldn't understand our English (we're a party of three Americans\, by the way) and started screaming at us for not following directions --- never mind the fact that there was another party who had also gotten lost looking for the same excursion. Nobody goes on vacation to be belittled or humiliated in the way that the staff on this cruise has done to me and my family\, and we will not be going on a cruise with Norwegian again; we will be more than happy to spend our money elsewhere.

Pros: Food was ok

Cons: Horrifyingly bad service

Recommends Norwegian Jewel? No.

Only two shows worth watching: the Cirque Bijoux acrobatic show and the juggler's show.
Service and Staff
Definitely the worst service I have every experienced on a cruise; very rude\, very belittling.
Cabin / Stateroom
Online\, it stated that 3 or 4 people could sleep in this stateroom\, but it was so small that the sofa bed had to be taken out and re-folded every morning and night just so we would be able to walk to the balcony. I have no idea where a fourth person would have slept.
Food and Dining
The desserts aren't overly sweet\, which is nice.
Ship Quality
The Jewel is on the older side\, about 10 years-- most cruise ships are due for refurbishment at this point.
