7 Night Bahamas & Florida (New York Roundtrip) Sail Date: April 14, 2012 Ship: Norwegian Jewel Cabin Type: Balcony Traveled As: Family (older children) Reviewed: 6 years ago
Nice Cruise...! We enjoyed the entertainment, The Bahamas, rooms were clean, staff friendly, lots of things to do. We would have loved another day in the Bahamas rather than a stop at cape Canaveral.
Food and Dining

We loved the fresh fruit and veggies at the salad bar. We never paid more for a specialty restaurant but had plenty of variety. Tsars and Azura were both good. The "juice" at the buffets was too sweet/not 100% juice, so we drank water or milk the whole time. The chocolate buffet was beautiful, but most things we tried were disappointing. Our daughters are vegetarians and loved the salad bars, but I would suggest more options for non-meat eaters. I loved the omelet station...lots of fresh veggies. The buffets on ship had something for everyone. we absolutely loved the buffet at Stirrup Cay!

Jean Pierre was excellent!! We also enjoyed Fountains on the last night...hysterical and very clever. We chose not to partake in all the little "pay more" options, such as Deal or No Deal, Bingo, Scratch and Win tickets, but there were plenty of entertainment options without these. The singers were just mediocre...male dancer/gymnasts were great, as well as the German acrobats.
Service and Staff

Everyone was great, especially the housekeeping staff on deck 9. James knew our names on the first night and was very attentive to our needs. We also enjoyed "Aussie Steph" "gorgeous George" and "Nacho Libre".

Balconies are the way to go. We loved having a quiet place all our own to go to.
Accessability to the pool deck chairs needs to be improved. People would put towels on them very early in the morning and leave them there all day. maybe some kind of monitoring can be put on place, or AT least announcements or signs restricting this practice.
We found the ship to be very clean, and the decor very nice.
Cabin / Stateroom

We loved the balcony room. Bathrooms and furniture were nice. Interior room was a bit small but we expected that on a cruise ship.
Pros: fresh food at the buffet, Jean Pierre, housekeeping staff, great Stirrup Cay and Nassau
Cons: Difficulty finding a seat at meal times, or a deck chair, Cape canaveral
