Dissapointing Cuise

Sail Date: March 20, 2011

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

It has been years since I have been on a cruise, there has been a definite change in the food. Basically all of the no additional charge restraunts serve all the same menu items, the food is made in advance, so fish that is advertised as grilled is actually baked, the desserts tasted like everything came from jello, the chocolate tasted like genaric chocolate you get at easter. Not much change from day to day. The food was cheap quality. when you order room serve the wheat bread lookes like white bread with brown food coloring. Furthermore there was not ample time at ports. At great stirrup key it is advertised we arrive at 8am, they dont mention that they don't start tendering until 10am for those who purchased an excursion, and the open tender didn't start until almost 12pm. Then if you go snorkeling, even if you bring your own gear, they wont let you snorkel unless you rent a life jacket from them. The ship has plenty of time to get back to New York from Naussau, but they have you board by 5:30 anyway. Very dissappointing experience.

Pros: on board shows

Cons: food was low quality

Recommends Norwegian Jewel? No.

Ship Quality
The overall ship was very clean and turn down serves was provided twice a day. But on arrival the room was dirty. there was urint dried on the back of the toilet, and smear markes on the walls.
Cabin / Stateroom
The shows were excellent. The one pool table provided was out of order the entire cruise. At the begining of the trip there was plenty of ping pong equipment, by the end it was difficult to find.
Food and Dining
Cheap food. Similar to hospital food. Unless you go to the extra charge resteraunts, which were good, but frusterating because the extra charge is equal to what you would pay at a restraunt on land.
Service and Staff
After arriving to a dirty room, the supervisor sent a bottle of cheap champagne, one of us doesnt even drink. But the service after the room was cleaned well, was excellent
Great Stirrup Cay (Cruiseline Private Island), Bahamas
Under construction,. Not much variety of fish or coral to see snorkeling. Not much time to spend, due to lateness of tendering to island.
Don't Miss: beach is nice
Port Canaveral, Florida
Nothing special. Shuttle serves stops at 730pm even though ship leaves at 10pm. Port Canaveral is very industrial.
Don't Miss: not worth getting off the boat, except to get some decent food
Nassau, Bahamas
More time needed. We ran into some people from Carnival, and they had until 930pm to be back on board. Norweigen was 530pm
Don't Miss: Snorkel with sharks
