Good cruise for the money

Sail Date: August 14, 2010

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Suite

The ship itself was very nice and well maintained. We had a mini-suite that was comfortable and for a cruise ship, a good sized room. Coming from a "FOODIE" the food in the speciality restaurants was very good, however expect to pay extra (totally worth the extra expense). The food in the main dining rooms left much to be desired, including the decor. The cruise was sold out and it was VERY CROWDED by the pools on the sea days, however, this is a problem with most ships. EXCELLENT service overall.

Pros: Great destinations, speciality restaurants were excellent, and great crew. The ship was very clean and maintained throughout the cruise.

Cons: VERY crowded. Food at the main dining room was not that good.

Recommends Norwegian Jewel? Yes!

Entertainment
Only one really great evening show, the others were good but were repeated during the cruise with little variety.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruiseline Private Island), Bahamas
A great time on the island, although it was very crowded. The sun is extremely HOT, so rent a clam shell in advance (they sell out). The rental will also guarantee you an early tender. Without a clam shell or booked excursion, you will receive a tender ticket that could possibley bring you over half way through the day. Some people didn't arrive until 1:30 PM with their tender time.
Nassau, Bahamas
Atlantis waterpark is not to be missed!! We rented a room for the day at Comfort Inn (through BJs). This might save you some $$ and time, depending on the rate you get and the number of people you have. Book early!! The process was very simple, cab ride over to comfort inn was only $4pp each way.
Port Canaveral, Florida
We went to Universal Studios and had a BLAST! We purchased the "FAST PASS" online, in advance and this helped us see every ride/event without a line. Since you're only in port for a short time, this is a must.
