Great itinerary, terrible food

Sail Date: January 04, 2008

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

The ship is very beautiful, but has some flaws in basic layout which sometimes made it a challenge to get from one deck to another. Cleanliness is encouraged with hand sanitizers at every corner.

Pros: the itinerary

Cons: the food on the ship

Recommends Norwegian Jewel? No.

St. John's, Antigua
Walking around the dock area was not pleasant. It was smelly and there were several homeless people sleeping.
Road Town, Tortola, B.V.I.
Although we did not do a shore excursion on Tortola, we enjoyed browsing the island shops and watching the beautiful yachts come and go.

Cayo Levantado (Samana), Dominican Republic
Cayo Levantado was highly recommended, but we found it to be essentially a tourist trap. We were dropped off there and picked up several hours later. A couple hours on this island would have been plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful beach.
Don't Miss: don't know, we only did the Cayo Levantado beach excursion

Bridgetown, Barbados
There were several cruise ships docked so the port area is extremely crowded. We hired a driver to drive us along the coast and we stopped at a beautiful beach affiliated with the Hilton Hotel.
Castries, St. Lucia
St. Lucia is a must-see. We hired a driver and drove southward along the coast so we saw quite a bit of rainforest and rural areas of the island. There are exceptional beaches and the people are friendly.
