The Norwegian Jewel is a great ship. There are plenty of activities, the food is outstanding, and the staff is very nice. There are 2 main restaurants and we didn't have trouble getting into them on any night, there was no wait except to be seated. We ate at Mama's Italian Kitchen one night and that was very good. The only other specialty restaurant we ate at was Blue Lagoon late one night. They have appetizer type food and burgers. The Garden cafe and Great Outdoors are a great option for lunch and breakfast. The buffet is delicious with lots of variety. The burgers at the outdoor grill are good, but the buns will fall apart on you. We really enjoyed the soft serve ice cream at the Garden Cafe. During the day, the pool deck is the place to be. There seemed to be plenty of lounge chairs, although you may not get one on the main pool deck, but there are 2 other decks to choose from. The live calypso band plays for a few hours and they also have another easy listening type band. If the sun is not your thing, try the game room or the library. The fitness center was well equipped with exercise machines and weights. Careful on a windy day, it's hard to run on the treadmill while the ship is pitching. There is a jogging track outside, but good luck making other passengers understand that it is for running, not standing around on.
There are also planned activites like bingo, poker tournaments, and classes. Check out your Freestyle guide that you receive nightly for the next day's activities. Some of them have surcharges, but most are free.
There are so many bars to choose from, you'll be able to find your favorite drink or try a new one.
The pictures that they take of you getting on the ship and at the various ports are fun, but beware of the backgrounds they insert into the picture. They are doing something wrong and lots of the pictures came out with one person looking like they are part of the ship!
The ports were fun and the shore excursions were great. We were unable to port on the private island because the waves were too high. We couldn't safely tender to the island, so we had another "fun day" at sea.

Pros: Lots of choices for restaurants and times to eat.

Cons: If you want to eat anywhere besides the main dining rooms, make a reservation.

Recommends Norwegian Jewel? Yes!
