NCL's Jewel is a new ship, quite beautiful and very clean. We thought we would enjoy the freestyle dining (after many prior cruises), but really did not. It took a very long time to get meals in the dining rooms (we tried both) We were also disappointed in how expensive everything on board was, drinks, bingo, etc. The other problem was that noone was required to follow the rules. There were children in the hot tubs and the restricted pool, there were people smoking everywhere, people wore shorts and jeans to dinner, etc. I think the freestyle concept was taken too far. Again, after many cruises we found the casino to be extremely small and the slots certainly are NOT loose. On the plus side, the shows were way beyond our expectations and truly enjoyed them. There are six of us in our group and we plan to cruise again next year, we are not leaning towards NCL.

Pros: the shows

Cons: lengthy wait for meals

Recommends Norwegian Jewel? No.
