Huge Disappointment

Sail Date: March 01, 2008

Reviewed: 8 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/young children

Room Type: Suite

Very disappointing. The Freestyle eating concept is not well structured. Despite having reservations every night we were rarely seated even close to on time and the food was generally poor. Cagneys and Tepanyaki were good but all others were poor. We were even charged the $10 extra for my 6 year old to eat a PB&J sandwich at Cagneys! Kids club was terrible - counselors were rude and obnoxious. My children, who have always loved kids clubs refused to go to this one.

Pros: Stateroom attendant

Cons: Just about everything - dining/kids club/customer service

Recommends Norwegian Jewel? No.

Food and Dining
Freestyle dining concept does not work. You are never seated on time and by the time you do finally get to your table you're in such a bad mood you don't enjoy it. Food quality generally poor except for two of the specialty restaurants.
Service and Staff
Other than stateroom attendant service was terrible. Since the tips are charged directly to your account they have no incentive to do more to assist you so you get very basic service.
Children's Programs
My children have always loved kids clubs on other ships and we have to beg them to leave to join us. On this ship they simply refused to go - the counselors were awful - rude and lazy and refused my 6 year old a drink of water after they spent an hour out on the sports deck in the Caribbean sun. She was ill afterwards.
Ship Quality
Often dirty and not well cared for.
