Good Cruise

Sail Date: March 28, 2008

Reviewed: 8 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

The ship was well maintained and the crew was exceptional. However there were only two dance venues other than pool side and the music started late (10:30 PM) and was obviously geared to a younger group. The easy listening music was early enough but was only in lounges designed for sitting and listening. Things may have been different if we hadn't gone during spring break but this cruise was obviously for families and the younger set.

Pros: Price was good and ship was beautiful

Cons: No early dance venues for older couples

Recommends Norwegian Jewel? Yes!

Food and Dining
Free style offers plenty of convenience for dining times, but don't think it's for us. Main restaurants had a fair selection on the menu, but not as good as some other cruises we've been on. Specialty restaurants had great food but the cover charge wasn't something I really cared for. It was also somewhat difficult to get a reservation at the more popular restaurants unless you booked early in the morning the day before. Buffet food was fair and had a good selection but it was always really busy.
Entertainment
Had a couple of decent shows and some that were not that exciting to us. There were lots of activities but not much for the older crowd unless you were into bingo or trivia. Great spa and exercise facilities and lots to do for active adults.
Ship Quality
Cabin / Stateroom
We had a balcony on the 9th deck. Room was neat and clean and had plenty of space
Service and Staff
Children's Programs
There were lots of kids on the ship (from toddlers to teen agers) and they all seemed to be having a really good time so would surmise it was really good. Obviously we didn't partake of these services
