Our first cruise

Sail Date: March 23, 2008

Reviewed: 8 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/older children

Room Type: Oceanview

The ship seemed new(it wasnt) and clean. The crew were all friendly and helpful when asked. The availability of food was great, but the quality just average. Too hard to get reservations at restaurants that were not the buffet. Everything cost extra-did not like that. Also, auto gratuity, after we pay $10/day/person!! Need to mix up the selection at the buffet--pretty much the same every day.

Pros: The crew friendliness, and eating whenever, doing whatever

Cons: Grand Cayman, lack of info about docking at ports

Recommends Norwegian Jewel? Yes!

Food and Dining
Food average. Service at Cagneys horrible and food just a little better than free ones. Did like being able to eat whenever, but maybe it would be nice to have buffet, but also set times at dining. Why are there extra charge restaurants and when you get in them, not all entree are equal. Meaning, some of those cost extra extra!!!!
Cabin / Stateroom
Small, but to be expected. Ours was clean and comfortable. Good housekeeping service.
Thought the shows seemed good, but only got to see one, as it was midweek before we even knew what was going on and then we got stuck at Cagneys for 2 hrs. and missed the best one! Too much hawking of bingo and tickets. If you must charge, make it reasonable. Also, yoga and such was extra with auto gratuity, again.
Ship Quality
Easy to figure out and clean.
Service and Staff
Everyone was very friendly and willing to help.
George Town, Grand Cayman
Ugh! Way to expensive and dirty! Just a tourist trap!
Cozumel, Mexico
Don't really know what I liked about it, except maybe the Mexican atmosphere, so mykids could at least see what Mexico is like. Shopping seemed okay, I like to barter.
